Who can become a surrogate?
In order to become a surrogate, you must meet certain requirements such as being a US citizen or permanent resident, be between the ages of 21 & 38, be able to pass a psychological evaluation, medical screening, background check & drug screening, given birth to at least one child, no more than 3 c-sections, no more than 5 births, not on any anti-depressants or anxiety medications and have a BMI of 32 or less.
How does a surrogate mother get pregnant?
A surrogate mother becomes pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF). During IVF, an embryo is created in a lab and then implanted into the surrogate’s uterus via an embryo transfer.
Is a surrogate mother genetically related to the child?
In gestational surrogacy, the embryo is created from an egg from the intended mother or egg donor, and sperm from the intended father or sperm donor. The baby is genetically related to the intended parent(s), and not the surrogate.
Can I be a surrogate if I have my tubes tied?
Yes, you can still be a gestational surrogate even if you’ve had your tubes tied.
What is the average compensation for surrogacy?
At Second Bloom Surrogacy, surrogates receive generous and competitive compensation that reflects their invaluable dedication and selfless commitment to helping families grow.
Do I have to travel?
Depending on your specific circumstances, if you are not local to your intended parent’s clinic, typically you will travel there twice. First is for the initial medical screening and then again for the embryo transfer(s). Applicable travel expenses are covered.
